Message Summary From Last Week –

11/05/2017 – Communion

This past week we examined the topic of the Lord’s Supper. The Lord’s Supper, also known as a Holy sacrament or communion, has many varying beliefs and traditions associated with it. So, what’s right and what’s wrong? Many questions were discussed: is it for Messianic Jews only; only on Passover; once a year, month, week; at every meal; who should take it; who should administer it; what does the Bible say and what doesn’t it say; traditions or truth? Jesus gave us many commands, why is communion a sacrament and foot washing is not? Is it because we would rather eat than wash feet? We do know Jesus loved to use parables to teach. I believe Jesus intended baptism and communion to illustrate through our physical senses what He accomplished in His death, burial, and resurrection. Jesus came to re-establish a relationship between man and God. He has no desire to establish more traditions. The purpose of doing things in remembrance of Him is really that simple! Remember what He did, why He did it and all that it accomplished for us. It truly is a heart attitude, not a procedure.
